The crystal blue waters at Sapphire Beach, the jewel of the Coffs Coast, have sparked significant property interest in recent years, defying the sluggish movement of beachfront property elsewhere on the east coast.
Mining magnate Nathan Tinkler smashed the mid north coast record in 2008 when he purchased Noorinya, on a Sapphire Beach headland, for $11.5 million from Microsoft pioneer Jaybe Ammons. The following year Stockland’s David Pitman and ABN Amro’s Simon Perrott purchased oceanfront properties from developer Barry France on the next headland along at Sapphire Beach.
Between these two headlands the very last vacant residential beachfront land at Sapphire Beach and some of the last on the each coast has just been released. Sapphire Beachfront Estate offers a very private beach, 14 absolute beachfront lots and 25 hillside lots. All enjoy ocean views, with many boasting panoramic island and ocean views.
“The natural features of the site are outstanding” said Philip Graus, Director of nationally celebrated architectural firm Cox Richardson, who designed the estate. “The topography, vegetation and stunning ocean and beach outlook are the perfect canvas for a distinctive and contemporary coastal community. The combination of leafy streets, preserved rainforest, new open space and beachfront provide an idyllic living environment”.
Agent Peter Stone from Real Estate of Distinction said that since the land release in June the response has been very positive with several lots already under offer.
“A unique aspect of this estate comes from the work the developers have done to meet planning legislation for coastal development”, he said. “This has resulted in the 14 absolute beachfront blocks being elevated and having fabulous views to the ocean unhindered by sand dunes. All lots are north or north-east facing and are protected from strong winds. The southerlies go straight over the top because of the headland. I would expect these lots to double in value in five years”.
Sapphire Beachfront Estate is on Oceanfront Drive at 740 Pacific Highway, eight minutes north of the city of Coffs Harbour and 14 minutes from Coffs Harbour airport. Lots are priced from $350,000 for an elevated block to $1.2 million for an absolute beachfront block with private beach access. Land ranges in size from 427m² to 904m².
“Sapphire Beach is now rivaling the best of Australian beaches, including Byron’s Wategos, as a sought after location” said Mayor of Coffs Harbour City Council Keith Rhoades.
